Seriously, how dumb is it, to say "investigate, one week deadline" to the FBI?
The Bureau will agree to investigate if asked. But if (as I strongly suspect) they start setting up the investigation, get all the stuff proffered by the attorneys for Ford, Ramirez, etc., (you KNOW Avenatti's already got a net half-ton of stuff standing ready to hand over) and realize they can't do the job in one week, they will come back to the Senate and say, "We'll report back to you when we've actually completed the investigation, and it ain't gonna be by Friday at 4:00 pm."
THEN what do they do?
Just wondering.

(12,344 posts)They will talk to everybody at the party and as many others who knew Kavanaugh as they can find. They will conclude that Kavanaugh lied about the party, lied about his drinking habits, lied about his yearbook, but they can't conclude anything about the attempted rape.
So he will be hung for perjury.

If Kav is confirmed, the weasels will say "the FBI couldn't confirm these allegations in a timely manner"
If Kav is rejected they will say "We need to fill the seat in a timely manner and the FBI is still investigating these serious allegations so we must move on"
I just don't know which one of those two it will be. Either way, FBI goes under the bus in regards to whoever is angry about the vote outcome.
