'The bible says it's not rape if the woman doesn't scream'

SHARE TWEET SHARE EMAIL COMMENTS

If you want to read some of the most disgusting takes in far-right Trumplandia today, a good source would be barbwire.com, owned by Matt Barber, who RationalWiki describes as a “right-wing hack who spends an enormous amount of time spreading hatred towards gay people.”

Op-eds published on Barber’s site almost read like satire, but they’re very real. Earlier this month, right-wing Christian activist Linda Harvey published a piece attacking comprehensive sex education for kids, saying that the curriculums are responsible for the spread the sexually transmitted diseases. Attacking sex ed is nothing new for the religious right, but it was Harvey’s characterization of sex that made the piece so worthy of mockery.

“And let’s not forget the deadly contribution of ‘LGBTQ’ advocates who demand ‘inclusive’ sex ed —i.e., lessons that outline in detail how kids can engage in anal and oral sex, the sex practices of homosexuals,” Harvey wrote. “These lessons often encourage masturbation and pornography use.”

Oral sex was invented by the gays? Okay.

Which brings us to another regular columnist on barbwire.com, Dr. Don Boys.

In an op-ed published this Tuesday, Boys tackled the “sad, sickening saga” surrounding the sexual assault allegations against SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Needless to say, Boys is *skeptical* about Christine Blasey Ford’s allegation that Kavanaugh held her down on a bed and grinded against while trying to take off her clothes.

“Everyone must keep in mind that there is a miniscule (sic) possibility that her accusations are true just as there is small chance that there are little green men on Mars,” Boys wrote.

Boys claims that he truly wants “justice to prevail” and that he’s “not interested in some leftwing or rightwing agenda.”
But later in the piece, he refers to feminists as ” female fascist progressives” who “don’t care about justice, truth, honesty, and fairness.” So much for his alleged impartiality.

Then there’s this:

According to Boys, some “common sense definitions are necessary” when it come to the accusations against Kavanaugh.

Rape is having sex with a woman while she screams for help. No scream, no rape according to Deuteronomy 22:23-24. Ford says Kavanaugh held his hand over her mouth so did she scream for help when his hand was elsewhere? After all, it was in a bedroom of a house; surely, one of the other 4 teens could have heard him scream when she bit his hand. Did she bite his hand? Poke him in the eye? Women know instinctively how to protect their honor: screaming, shouting, slapping, spitting, slugging, and stabbing with a finger, pencil, or hat pin. Since she did not cry out or stab him, I will not believe her without a film of the event.

Boys’ interpretation of the bible passage he cited is spurious as best. The passage reads: “If a man happens to meet in a town a virgin pledged to be married and he sleeps with her, you shall take both of them to the gate of that town and stone them to death—the young woman because she was in a town and did not scream for help, and the man because he violated another man’s wife. You must purge the evil from among you.”

There is no such thing as rape in the Old Testament - no rape in marriage or outside of marriage, only adultery, a property offence. The husband owns his wife. A woman’s consent is irrelevant. A betrothed virgin is regarded as a wife. Screaming is not about consent. Her ‘crime’ is failing to raise the alarm that her husband’s property is in danger of being violated. If a woman is not betrothed, she becomes a man’s property (married) if he takes her virginity, with or without ‘consent’.

What if the man beat the shit out of the woman, she's scared he will kill her? God, hard to believe that these men are so stupid.

Like Rush Limb. thinking women take birth control in order to have more sex, or Kavanaugh saying birth control is a form of abortion. These sorry excuses for the male sex need to have the tables turned on them for a while.

If a woman screams and only her rapists hear her, did she really scream? Kind of existential question, don't you think?

The boys seem to know how to teach those girls all about sex.

However, most girls wouldn't learn a great deal since they will be rendered unconscious.
