A group representing thousands of current and former FBI agents shared a defense of bureau employees on Saturday amid renewed criticism of the FBI from President Trump and others.

“As we have said, Attacks on our character and demeaning comments about the FBI will not deter Agents from continuing to do what we have always done—dedicate our lives to protecting the American people,” the FBI Agents Association tweeted Saturday morning.

The FBI agents group issued the tweet after Trump went after the Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI at a campaign rally in Missouri on Friday evening, vowing to get rid of the "stench" at the department.


“Look what's being exposed at the Department of Justice and the FBI. You have some real bad ones. You see what's happening at the FBI — they’re all gone, they’re all gone,” he said.

"But there’s a lingering stench and we’re going to get rid of that too," Trump added.

There is a stench for sure but it is not coming from the direction of the FBI and it is not lingering, it is overwhelming.

If the local authorities are also investigating, or do so later and find something the FBI overlooked, it tarnished the FBI more than Trump's tweets. I actually feel pretty secure they will do this as thoroughly as humanly possible in the time allowed.

Kavanagh should step down and trump should name someone else.

3. The only FBI stench is coming out of the New York City office.

They are as corrupt and partisan as hell. They're the ones responsible for the e-mail fiasco that allowed Mushroom Dick to steal the election. The other bureaus are full of agents who are dedicated to protecting the citizens of this country in a non-partisan manner. And, that is the reason why the GOP has dragged their feet on any investigation. They know they can't rig it.

4. The FBI has done many investigations - background checks..hopefully they will

get this one right...who knows for sure that some information was withheld...buried...on the first go-round...I am hopeful, ever vigilant -
