PANIC! - MSM: "Romney is in Big, Big, Trouble"

PANIC! - MSM: "Romney is in Big, Big, Trouble"

by Billionaires for Wealthcare

The Florida papers are destroying Ryan. So much so that a distraught and panicked Village believes "Romney is in big, big trouble" for selecting the man who wants to pull the plug on Grandma.

The very first available headlines from the all important swing state of Florida are devastating.

<...>

Rolling out your vice presidential nominee is one of the most crucial aspects of every campaign, and from judging from the headlines, Romney has completely blown it.

On the evening news, a visibly shaken Chuck Todd reported the 2012 campaign has not touched on Medicare, but now, all of the sudden, it is front and center, and it will be a big part of voters' decisions in November.

Todd is the quintessential political reporter. He phones around Washington and interviews the establishment players, who are largely Republican, and then synthesizes their inside views and reports it as conventional wisdom.

The professionals and insiders view Ryan as box office poison.

Ryan's plan to make cuts to Medicare have been very unpopular when they’ve been tested with focus groups,
said Todd.

Adding the despair and dread felt among those paid to elect Republicans, Todd continued,

when you look at older voters, this issue is a big, big problem for Romney, that he’s going to have to figure out how to deal with

This is the perfect wedge issue. This desperate, panicked move by Romney to quell the Teabag base has now placed Boehner, Cantor, and the House in jeopardy.

They should also do an ad that addresses Ryan's claim that it doesn't affect people over 55... they need to find some seniors who feel that it's NOT okay to burden their children (who are in their 50s now,) with these cuts... and Seniors who are not willing to sell out their own kids and grandkids this way.

Because once someone has indicated that they are willing to cut medicare, or social security, all bets are off and there is no protections for anyone. Ryan PROPOSES that people over 55 are "safe" but that's a lie. Al Gore was right about the Social Security lockbox.. once they start opening it, and Medicare, to vouchers, it's over.

Since many at the age of 56 or up will still be living in their 80s when their kids are close to retiring. Then what do these families do? This doesn't even mention the unethical burden then placed on everyone else when the current system is working just fine and is sustainable.

Even most people without children and grandchildren don't want a future where elderly Americans are left to fend for themselves when it comes to medical costs.

Even just 10 years ago, who would have thought we'd have to fight to rescue Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid -- not to mention public education and the post office -- in 2012?

It's truly horrifying just how shitty they want life to be for millions of people.

Ryan's budget plan doesn't reduce the deficit, it expands it by trillions of dollars. Even destroying Medicare won't pay for his absurdly large tax cuts; he thinks he is going to make up the difference by "closing loopholes" that he hasn't found yet.

These people are only "deficit hawks" because that does better in focus groups than "kleptomania hawks".

And those deductions/credits are a big problem, because you know the Earned Income Credit, the Child Tax Credit and the home mortgage deduction are at the very top of his list.

But you are absolutely right: Ryan has no intent of reducing the deficit. Rather, it's better for him that the deficit expand as that will give him the impetus to get rid of those credits and deductions.

Cutting taxes when the country is already in debt trouble is just like asking your boss for a pay cut when you're already having trouble paying your mortgage--it is something You Would Not Do. Ever.

What exactly is Romney saying is his justification for picking Ryan? If it's not his budget - which they're both trying to distance Romney from - what is it exactly?

He's an ideas man? Romney acts like he doesn't want to embrace his ideas.

He said Ryan has shown he can work with both parties to find common ground. When? Ryan's budget was very partisan. I know of no such record from Ryan. He's just as partisan -if not worse- than all the other House Repubs.

Romney also said he respects his character and judgment. Pathetic reason. I mean, come on...

I know why Romney picked him as VP - I just don't see a good explanation from Romney to the voters as to why Ryan is the best choice. There really is none other than Mitt thinks this will get him a win. More empty suit politics.

Notice Romney hasn't put any of his own money into this campaign. It is the Kochs, Adelson, and Rove that are running things. Those guys never liked Romney anyway. With this pick, Romney has become almost entirely irrelevant.

And if there is one thing that we'd rather discuss than Romney's history of vulture capitalism and tax cheating, it is Ryan's plan to kill Medicare and Social Security.

So Romney can take the next 90 days off. This is all about Ryan now.

Cantor on the other hand - front and center as the ring leader of this mess. Go Wayne Powell!!

I've been saying that this thing is all about down-ticket races for a while now.

The Rs really had their shit together in the 90s when they focused on down-ticket races and filled up the statehouses, just in time for redistricting. We need to retake all of those seats so we can get things done.

My hope is that RomneyRyan will be so repugnant that the Rs will stay home. Team O needs to have a huge GOTV push and make it clear that winning a second term is not enough -- everyone has to show up and cast a vote for all of the down-ticket races.

The thought that insurance companies would voluntarily take on the geriatric crowd at all is laughable. If forced to, the exorbitant premiums, deductibles, and co-pays would be unaffordable for millions. "May be" a liability? What a joke. medicare would never have come into existence. The only reason we now have medicare is because the insurance companies don't want them. But they do want the younger healthy customers which is why medicare is so expensive per person. No healthy customers to bring the average down. Single payer would solve that problem.
