523 law professors signed the letter. We regret that we feel compelled to write to you to provide our views that at the Senate hearings on Thursday, September 27, 2018, the Honorable Brett Kavanaugh displayed a lack of judicial temperament that would be disqualifying for any court, and certainly for elevation to the highest court of this land, the letter says.
The letter is signed by many high-profile law professors, including eight from Yale Law School, where Kavanaugh obtained his law degree. The letter remains open for additional signatures through Thursday, when it will be presented to the Senate.
The legal experts fault Kavanaugh for failing to remain open to the necessary search for truth after being accused of sexually assaulting a girl when he was a teen and instead becoming repeatedly aggressive with questioners. The signees also criticize the judge for indicating that he believes allegations made by professor Christine Blasey Ford and other women are a calculated and orchestrated political hit by members of the Democratic Party rather than acknowledging that the Senate must try to understand and investigate the facts surrounding the allegations.

(206,140 posts)That SNL opening was absolutely brilliant! I had a TV in my room in Vermont and was able to catch it! The old friend who I stayed with really enjoyed it too! She lives in Vermont now and I've stayed with her a few times, but I never realized before that she doesn't have a TV! She lives on a dirt road off a dirt road - officially in a town that's so small it's easy to miss - beautiful house with a pond and a barn on her property, but I wonder if they even have cable available in so remote an outpost.
We also watched Lawrence O'Donnell on Friday night and she was glued to it - she said she recognized some of the voices from the radio - guess that's how she gets her news, though she does have a computer. She's definitely "one of us," as all my childhood friends turned out to be, and I suggested she access DU so she can at least catch the videos. I played one of my Colbert video OPs for her too and she loved it!

(27,995 posts)I'll admit I've watched it multiple times and laughed every time. I think it was cathartic after the emotional hearings.
It sounds like you had a lovely weekend! Glad you could turn your friend on to some progressive shows! Hopefully she'll be joining us here on DU.
