https://www.newsweek.com/nyc-will-recoup-any-money-donald-trump-owes-people-tax-fraud-mayor-bill-de-1151427New York City will go after President Donald Trump for any taxes he owes on the money he received from his late father, Mayor Bill de Blasio said Wednesday, one day after The New York Times published a report that accused Trump of dodging tax payments on $413 million funneled to him from his dad's real estate empire.
Its clear to me that there are real ramifications right now to what has been disclosed, either potential violations of law, or in cases where the statute of limitations has ended that there may be very serious civil penalties that can be applied by both the state and the city, de Blasio said. The city of New York is looking to recoup any money that Donald Trump owes the people of New York City, period.
"The Tax Department is reviewing the allegations in the NYT article and is vigorously pursuing all appropriate avenues of investigation," a spokesman for the department, James Gazzale, said in an email Tuesday.
Its also an indictment of the culture of New York City and New York state going back decades, de Blasio said. There was a good old boy network that obviously Donald Trump played like a fiddle and evaded the kind of regulation and investigation and prosecution he should have received many times over.

(2,830 posts)If they try and take Trump's assets, they are going to end up with a YUGE negative since he is like deeply overleveraged and doesn't really have a dime to his name.

(21,812 posts). . .Dolt 45 is gonna be shitting his pants big time.
She's currently NYC public advocate, and she would be the first woman and African-American to become NY state attorney general should she win in November.
And given Dolt 45's animosity toward successful women and African-Americans, well, I leave it to your imagination.
And she has publically pledged to go after Dolt 45's businesses, together with the SDNY.

(5,586 posts)Any tax frauds from the 80's, 90's or early 2000's are not prosecutable.
The IRS is even more lenient, and only requires tax records be kept for 3 years.

(36,354 posts)"It is also important to note that no deadline applies where the IRS can establish that a taxpayer has: 1) filed a false or fraudulent return; 2) willfully attempted to evade tax; or 3) failed to file a return. Unlike the circumstances above where tax returns are filed (even with errors), these are cases in which a taxpayer is willfully or intentionally not filing taxes or is filing fraudulent return(s). Not only will there be no time limit on IRS action against such taxpayers, but heightened interest fees and penalties will apply."

(32,784 posts)... and it's not just Donald Trump either, it's all the Trump families (siblings) who received shares from the parents' estates. Don't plan on leaving the state anytime soon.
