Top Republicans tell Axios that theyre seeing a surprising and widespread surge in GOP voter enthusiasm, powered largely by support for Brett Kavanaugh and his Supreme Court nomination.
Said GOP operative Josh Holmes: The Kavanaugh debate has dropped a political grenade into the middle of an electorate that had been largely locked in Democrats favor for the past six months. Private polling shows the enthusiasm shift is unmistakable in the red states that will determine control of the Senate.

(229 posts)it seals their electoral fate forever. This is more projection. There is no country where approval of Kavanaugh plummets AND the party who proposed him benefits.
Just ignore party operatives. Besides, he is more likely to join the 2020 ticket than be confirmed. Don't get the gloom here-he simply is not going to get the votes.

(6,377 posts)His approval numbers when running were horrific, but he still ended up in the White House because a lot of people said that even though they didn't like him personally, they were going to vote for him.
I'm guessing there are Republicans who don't personally like Kavanaugh, but still want him voted in because he's a Republican who will also protect Trump. Hence, low approval numbers but a bump in overall Republican support.

(65,042 posts)They were going to vote "R" anyway. Did they really think the rabid right was going to sit home because they were depressed?
The conclusions are stupid.

(7,447 posts)unlike us, the Supreme Court is paramount for them. It SHOULD be for us, but it isn't. It's one of the top things that drives them to the polls. We only go when we love the candidate.
