Red State Democratic Senators Should Vote "No" on Kavanaugh for Political Reasons
Let's just talk politics here. If, as it appears, the Republican controlled Senate pushes Kavanaugh through on a partisan vote, there will be a lot of angry Democrats, especially women, and rightly so. The Red State Democratic Senators can not keep their seats by chasing unwilling, maybe, Trump voters. They can not risk losing part of their base Democratic voters. They can not drop 5% to 10% in the polls because Democrats stay home or blank due to an understandable sense of betrayal. There are 32 days left to election day. A no vote will fade into the woodwork among Republicans, especially if Kavanaugh is confirmed. But the defeated Democratic voters certainly won't forget by November 6. After all, even in a debate, each one of you can say you voted for Gorsich and that Kavanaugh's Conservative principals didn't push you away, but his demeanor and lingering doubts of his overall honesty.
No politician can win if they fracture their base and start chasing "maybe" votes. Forget that strategy and if you go down, go down swinging. After all, it's your only chance of winning.
