White House confirms FBI's Kavanaugh investigation only looked at what Republican senators wanted

https://thinkprogress.org/raj-shah-kavanaugh-cnn-fbi-investigation-blackouts-memory-lapses-fb5231fb1649/

The White House announced early Thursday morning that the FBI has completed its “supplemental background investigation” into Brett Kavanaugh, Donald Trump’s pick for a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court. And later that morning, Principal Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah told CNN that the investigation included just nine comprehensive interviews and no examination into whether the nominee may have lied to the Senate Judiciary Committee when he denied ever getting so drunk that he blacked out and had memory lapses.

Shah claimed that the White House had simply had the FBI investigate what the Senate was “interested in,” but then clarified that by that he only meant Senate Republicans.

Asked why the FBI was not permitted to investigate whether Kavanaugh had memory lapses — as his former Yale roommate and other former classmates have alleged — Shah argued that no Senator who matters wanted to know.

“All the folks that are demanding this type of investigation in the Senate are Democrats who have already pledged to vote no. They don’t want additional information to make a decision. They want to delay this process.”

Raj also argued that the multiple allegations of memory lapses are unimportant because Kavanaugh testified in last week’s hearing that he liked alcohol.

4. Yet another lie.

The investigation was requested by a republican for himself and two other republicans who wanted more information regarding his character from people who knew a darker and uglier side of him. And certainly he showed that dark and ugly side in the hearing, so it wasn’t an inappropriate request.

Since essentially no investigation took place, logically they should refrain from a yes vote. But sadly we all know that won’t happen.

6. They voted NO bc it's obvious he's unqualified and an unstable jurist at best.

Its obvious that the repubs require open minds from the dems...then follow THEIR schtick to the tee EVERY time. They know how to manipulate folks who try to have a conscience and true morals and values and are kind and fair at heart. Stop playing into their hands is all I can say. Take a stand...then clear out of dodge. like they do. They get the loudest when we fight like they do.
Karl Rove. Politics is War. if you are going to war w a handful of daisies against machine guns...we have already lost. Stop engaging them, do the things we know to do. Move forward. Militarize your feelings against these people. Get hard about it. Stop engaging them. We know how it needs to go. Soldier up and be strong.

7. Would love to know why dems agreed to the investigation without nailing down basic terms...

They had no choice at all? What kind of a fake agreement was that that they struck with Flake? Totally foreseeable. Sham.

10. Maybe they figured it was better than no FBI investigation.

Bet Mark Judge wasn't forthcoming to the FBI or wasn't asked any questions that might corroborate Dr. Ford.
Who were the other 8 witnesses? Anybody's guess? How do we know most of these weren't tampered with
by Kavanaugh's team?

11. But if they couldn't get basic terms, why put on a face of agreeing it was an ok deal?

They should’ve insisted from the start, publicly, that it would only be fair if x,y and z were done. Now we have as usual, no standard, and the public will draw its own conclusons, including that we’re just sore losers, which plays right into McConnell’s theme of vilifying ourpartisanship.
