I never let myself get emotionally invested in the outcome because the Republicans always had the numbers to ram him through if they wanted. It is what it is. No investigation would likely have been better than a flawed and rushed one. I kept my counsel to myself but I always questioned the wisdom of calling for an investigation. The FBI found Anita Hill's allegations "unfounded" and she had four contemporaneous witnesses with whom she shared her account of Clarence Thomas' harassment of her and three witnesses came forward to state Thomas acted in a similarly inappropriate fashion toward them.

I am not going to Monday morning quarterback the Democrats because the pressure on them to do something, anything was enormous.

We are where we are. The Republicans were energized to put their boy on the Court even if their boy was a drunken sexual predator given to fits of rage. Now it is our turn to be energized because the Republicans did put a drunken sexual predator on the Court.

1. Assuming confirmation, about all we gained is labeling Kavanaugh as a cad and political tool bent

on blocking liberal causes. I think, that has some value.

It's tough losing these fights. Fortunately in a little over 30 days, we have a chance to win the House if we get out the vote. If we don't, well we'll hear another "I've got political capital" speech.
