IMHO, Kavo will not be confirmed

McConnell does not have the votes and Trump knows it. This has all been a ploy to rile up the base so they turn out in November.... and then they will ram another knee jerk conservative through during the lame duck.

ACA is the most memorable example.

But lets not forget Ryan Bounds, nominee for the 9th Circuit, whose nomination was pulled from the floor right before the vote when Tim Scott - not one of the usual suspects - pulled his support and McConnell suddenly didn't have the votes.

A week ago, we thought it was a done deal that would be voted on within a day. And then it wasn't.

So, I'm holding out a little bit of hope.

If they wait until November it will be too late. Even if they did it tomorrow it may be difficult to get it done in time.

They still have to go through background checks, interviews with each Senator, etc. You also then have the possibility of some of the defeated Repub senators going rogue. It is no sure thing.

Even if they rush the background and hearing, Dems can push the markup back a week.

I'm feeling the same way - and thinking that indeed they could "ram" one through in "lame-duck" time.
However, if there indeed is a big blue wave (we have to hope and WORK for it!) I have to believe it would be exceedingly difficult for that to happen.

If they wait until after the midterms, "vulnerable" democrats won't exist. They need this to happen prior to the midterms to try to force a couple of democrats, and some wayward republicans to vote with them.

...or video of Kavanaugh doing some foul shit, he's going to get confirmed, believe that.

Like I said last Friday, this FBI "investigation" was all just a bunch of bullshit from the very beginning. Anyone who thought it was actually going to do anything but provide cover for the few cowardly senators who were too chickenshit to vote "no" was being naive.

I don't.

In the end, Flake, Collins and Murkowsky just aren't brave enough. They KNOW he did it. But it's not enough for them. The Party means more than the honor of the nation.

He knew the scope of the investigation would be limited, so he went after Dr. Ford. He wanted to gin up his base, because he knew what was coming. Make it look like he was "justified" with the insults he threw at her. He wanted to scare that crowd, especially the women, making them believe their 'innocent" husbands and sons will be falsely accused. Never mind statistics showing that it's women, who are the ones that have the higher rate of being victims of violent crime and sexual assault. Not one word about that.

I feel unbelievably sad, this is going to hurt women coming forward, in the future.

Unfortunately I think Kav will be confirmed and it breaks my heart, I'm devastated.
