(46,730 posts)based on polls. She has a chance to finish strong in principle if she votes no.

(1,714 posts)if she has aspirations for any other elective office in North Dakota, she will probably vote yes. Don't know. Think she'll ever want to be governor?

(3,666 posts)help either Manchin or Heitkamp?
I don't get it. Democrats will be furious. Republicans who want a Trump Republican will prefer the real thing over the fake thing.
There is no upside for either of them, it seems to me, in alienating Democrats in order to gain nothing from Republicans or Independents who support Trump.
Are there really voters out there, otherwise inclined to support and the Republicans, who would vote for either of them if they just backed Kav?
nicely stated, and a very good question
The number of people who otherwise would not vote for them who vote for them because they are vote for this psychopath is INFINITELY < than the number of people who would otherwise vote for them who will be revolted by them voting for the psychopath ....
MichMary
(1,714 posts)but Trump is also very popular, and the voters want Kav. The question is, do we want to lose a Senate seat over something that is probably a moot point?

(6,110 posts)the gray matter of some voters! I have reached a conclusion that all voters don't think rationally or alike.

(13,776 posts)In ND and SD, the anti-choice voters are a strong majority. Heitkamp has a tough time as a D because of that.

(34,661 posts)Heitkamp's reelection ain't going to happen. Talked to people on the ground,it is ugly for our Dem Friends in North Dakota. She was down by 10 points as of that time yesterday.

(46,166 posts)No way can she turn that around with a Yes vote. If she votes to seat Kav I have to wonder how the heck she lives with herself. A No vote would at least show dignity and spine.

She's kinda like Manchin. Can't count on either one of them for a Dem vote when they are really needed.
Let's concentrate on all the other seats we can pick up and maybe count on.

ADDED ON EDIT!!
I just saw a thread saying that Heidkamp is planning a no vote. GOOD for her. I retract my nasty statement about her earlier.

(46,166 posts)So it sounds like she may go down swinging. The way I figure it, voters like to see a pol stand their ground, stand for something. I'm not in her shoes but stand to be affected by Court decisions, as we all are.

Knowing a bit about the Fundie World of NoDak,they are pissed she is not voting for Kavanah. At least she keeps her Reputation as a honest broker when dealing with the Laws of our Nation.

(4,826 posts)I left ND for almost 20 years. It was always conservative but not this bad. I came back almost three years ago and this place is nuts.
The fundraiser held for Cramer in TEXAS makes me sick. I can't stand him.

(10,023 posts)I want him tweeting about how horrible female Democrats are and using derogatory adjectives to describe minorities like Trump does. I want him calling into Fox and Friends and being a special guest on Hannity. I want him to Instagram himself at pool parties drinking beer with teenage females around at Mar a Lago. I want him to bask in the glory of being a privileged entitled asshole given his position by people like Trump, Pence, McConnell, and Graham. And when he sides for any and all abortion restrictions I want to see Collins' grin as she runs to the elevator to avoid answering questions.
Yes. I am very angry.
