Yes, it would take a Constitutional Amendment, but hear me out. The advise and consent power has become partisan outside of any democratic process. We the people, quite literally, don't get a say. Imagine some of the possibilities:
-Expand the number of Justices
-Direct popular vote in non-partisan races the first November after a vacancy emerges.
-Retention votes every 4 years on Presidential cycle for all justices.
-limitations on age, before the bar, etc.
The Supreme Court was designed to be Conservative and elitist. Can we please to away with this non-democratic institution already?

-Retention votes every 4 years on Presidential cycle for all justices. Good grief, no! Can you imagine how that would have gone in 1980, 1984, etc?
-Direct popular vote in non-partisan races the first November after a vacancy emerges.
Also, no. We have enough of a problem getting our voters out to the polls for non-presidential elections. This would virtually guarantee a Republican-leaning court.

Senators were not directly elected under the Constitution... did we keep that?
