GODDAMN TRUMP AND HIS TRUMPANZEES! Just visited in clinic with a victim of sexual assault.

Her attacker was her neighbor, a creepy handsy guy who finally saw his chance when she got drunk at a party.

It was impossible not to think of Kavanaugh and all of his creepy, rapey apologists while she was telling me the history of the attack.

Fortunately, he left evidence behind (and took pics with his phone!), and she sought appropriate medical care. She also filed a police report, and has been undergoing post-traumatic counseling. Her boyfriend knows and is very supportive of her. She presented today for an STD test.

I told her in no uncertain terms that the attack was not her fault, and that getting drunk does not equal consent to sex. I told her our entire team is going to do everything we can to help her recover.

But God-damn the monsters who do this shit!...

A brave woman! Going through with an exam after rape is absolutely horrific.

I'm screaming inside.

I do know that complete STD testing cannot be immediately done. The victim has to go back after a period of time to be sure.

When a victim comes forward immediately, it is not only a one-time exam and a one-time report to the police. It's an excruciating process that takes courage and persistence to endure.

Even when victims come forward immediately, some become discouraged, threatened, and tired while pressing charges. Some don't have the support of family/friends/community and just want to try to go on with their lives and not suffer through a trial.

a few years ago she went on a blind date with a guy one of her friends set up.

While they were having drinks after dinner, her date ruffied her with some date rape drug, he took her (almost passed out) back to his place and raped her. She blames herself. After days of calling me crying... I finally convinced her to file a police report and go get the rape kit done (days later is not great, but they still got some evidence... she wouldn't tell me what). Turns out this guy had OTHER RAPE REPORTS filed on him by previous victims, had been to court on one of them and wasn't convicted (he said it was consensual).

I wanted to fly to her town and find this asshole. I don't know what I'd do to him... so it's better that I don't.

She is still in therapy about what happened and has a difficult time trusting anyone. She also dropped her friend that set up the blind date (that girl claims she didn't know and was terribly sorry, etc).

if you can bring yourself to. Predators don't do it just once. They keep doing it until they are caught, convicted and locked up. They might not get convicted of the crime against you, but the report will still be there. When they are reported again, maybe tjere will be enough evidence to convict.

We've got a great team here. Our own trauma counselor just left after visiting with the patient. I'm glad we were able to give her good care without having to refer her to twelve different places.

encourage the country to arm itself to the eyeballs. I always figured some disgruntled rube would realize they screwed him, and take out one or more of them. But, the more shit like this that I hear, the more likely I believe that it's going to be at the hands of a sexual assault victim. Or, their husband/boyfriend, or father, or mother, or sibling...

the world needs to be reset for sanity and humanity. Hope all goes well for her.

From the title, it sounded as if TRUMP had visited a sexual assault victim. I thought, in that situation, who would want TRUMP coming to see them?

It takes a lot of courage to get apolice report and jump through all the hoops when something like that happens. You wonder if all these republicans excusing the predator in chief and a judge is giving license for disturbed people to increase assaults. Stay 💪.

Lots of women I know carry mace or something for protection like a small pocketknife. We know what to do if ever threatened or attacked. I think our mothers' generation relied on men to protect them, but we baby boomers are more self-reliant. At least I'd like to think we are.
