Supreme Court Justices don't say things like that, although I'm thinking that a number of traditions may fall away once a political hack like Kavanaugh is on the Court . . .

I think you are correct.
I'm not sure I've ever heard a former Supreme Court member ever be that blunt about a hot-button political topic that is going on. I could be wrong though.
