IF these polls showing a big Republican bump based on Kav are accurate, there is no hope

at least not unless the nature of the American voting electorate significantly changes.

Not sure about the accuracy/bias of this latest poll, but there have now been a few that show this bump:

https://www.investors.com/politics/trump-approval-rating-ibd-tip-poll/

I probably should have learned my lesson in 2016 not to extrapolate from my own views what the Average American is thinking. Because a lot of Average Americans are just plain evil.

As a former pilot, I was taught to fly a damaged plane all the way down. You never know what happens at the last minute. If you give up too soon, you've already sealed your fate. Even if things appear shitty and hopeless, you still try.

WTF is with this fatalism shit?

It is on purpose-and & guarantee that pole is another rigged bullshit spew.

The way they made the FBI "investigation" openly laughable was also designed to demean & belittle.

Problem is the have a ready to hack voter role & no amount of turnout will be enough as the poles will be rigged also.

But for all that matters-never ever stand down. Bite thier damn ankles after they cut your arms & legs off.

We need to max out the vote at the polls, we do that, we bring about change. It is interesting, like Maher said, that the only people that are consistently delivering head shots to Trump and his chronies are former republicans like Wallace, Schultz, Will, Rueben, et al. Our side? We have some people that are more than ready to take a fetal position, dammit, fight through the end, if we lose then at least we tried.

Kavanaugh in a week. He said that middle America is not represented well in polls. He said that they care about the tariffs/sanctions that are hurting farmers and the people who need healthcare for their preexisting condition. That is why he thinks Dems will do better than the current polls are saying regarding the GOP voters.

So while a bump in republicans looks good, its already of a much smaller number than 2016......

If they get Kavanaugh the only ones who will be coming out in huge numbers are the democrats. True the die hard trumpers will come out no matter what, but there really are not that many of them. A lot of republicans that would come out if he does NOT get on the court, will simply sit home because they have their majority on the courts, and that is all they care about.

Democrats went too far with Kav. They bring up an incident that happened 36 years ago when he was only 17 years old.
I doubt there are few men that didn't do something at 17 they are ashamed of now, I sure wouldn't want what I did at 17 made public.
I just hope this gets resolved one way or the other and the story goes away before it cost us control of the house.

Independents are everything. Elections are won on preference, not turnout. Hillary was never going to win big in 2016, not when polling consistently showed that independents favored Trump. He won independents by 4%.

But that changed early in 2017 when independents moved sharply away from Trump, and it has remained that way. I tend to believe this recent change is short term and not much. But if we lose independents then the blue wave won't happen.

There's no question we would have been far better off with Kavanaugh shoved through under protest and dismay, than after this type of sham FBI investigation that leads to the same outcome. I mentioned it a week ago, that Jeff Flake could have unwittingly given Trump and the GOP a boost that wasn't available anywhere else. Now Trump can claim all the FBI investigations will lead nowhere and are nothing but a witch hunt. The number of believers won't be zero, and many outside his base will be gullible enough to believe it.

One less overtly partisan and richly privileged. Access to abortions will still be curtailed at will by the states.

However, perhaps the next nominee will care at least a bit more about the constitution and the country and less about seeking revenge on anything remotely involving Clinton or the perceived "left"....and perhaps he/she will not feel the need to lie under oath.

Trump continues to alienate all but his most rabid fans. Making this election all about Trump is not the way many Republicans want to run. Many voters want a return to some checks and balances and they will never get that with the current Republican legislators.

This is the moment the conservative movement have been fantasizing and masturbating about for 50 years. They ain't gonna let a few raped women get in their way.

With that said, once McConnell rams Kavanaugh onto the court, all that conservative 'enthusiasm' vanishes. By next month it will be ancient history.
