I've spent awhile on the phone today. Called a couple of Heidi Heitkamp's state offices. That was kind of a chore. Most of these are regional offices in North Dakota, and you can get ALL the branch office numbers from there.

When I reached a living breathing human, I tried to get some insight. Asked how it's been going - are they getting more "thank you's" than "damn you's". All three of these Senators' staffers answered that the volume of calls is so overwhelming that nobody's been able to keep track.

That's when I was able to get through.

Trying several different regional offices in each of these states, you had to try calling down the list. Most lines are busy. And sometimes when you DO manage to get through, you actually reach voicemail, which will probably tell you that you can't leave a message because they're all full.

Richard Shelby since yesterday and can only get voicemail that "can't take messages at this time". I know Doug Jones plans to vote no and I will call to thank him when the vote is done.

Yes. Do plan to call and thank Doug Jones. He and the other Dems with Spine need to know they're not standing tall in a vacuum. They WILL face hurricane-force blowback. So it's good to offer them calcium supplement for their budding backbones. VERY good. Thanks for doing that!

It's been a struggle to get through to even one regional office for either Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) OR Joe Donnelly (D-IN) today. When you somehow manage to connect, it usually sends you straight to voicemail.
