CHuck Grassley's whip count short as of late afternoon with four GOPers undecided

Undecided GOPers believed to be Flake, Collins, Murkowski, and either or both of Corey Gardner (CO) or Ben Sasse (NE)

Manchin (D, WV) is also uncommitted.

Also of note is that if the vote were to occur too close to Saturday, this GOPer would not be present:

7. Guess, he feels he needs to as well as head of Judiciary. He's surely been Trump lackey on this

Or perhaps Cornyn had conveyed the info to Grassley.

that means it is 50-49 Republicans. So, the Democrats would only need to hold onto Manchin and swing one Republican, as Pence only breaks ties.

and the bodies stronger. There is an ongoing protest "Filibuster Kavanaugh" in DC until the final vote. People are prepared to stay and more are traveling to the area and organizing other PROTESTS as I write.

12. McConnell's not going to lose this because of a missing Senator. He'll hold the vote over

16. Probably, but

Let's say that Mitch knows it's over for Kavanaugh. Rather than drag it out for a few more days to bring Daines back and then maybe a day or two more of debate, he pushes to get the vote now knowing it's a rejection. Trump then decides to nominate somebody else in a week or two to get the GOP base re-fired up, and then McConnell tries to ram through the nominee during the lame duck session?
