Witness tampering is a crime defined by 18 USC 1512.
So maybe I misunderstand the question posed by the OP. I thought you were asking what happened in the sense of why has the alleged wrongdoing not been addressed in some manner. One answer might be that the behavior in question is not witness tampering.
