CNN Reported That A Republican Senator Was Going To Miss The Vote

I saw it on the screen while I was at the gym. I couldn't hear the sound, and it didn't say who it was, but it clearly said, "GOP Senator to miss Kavanaugh confirmation vote," and something about the Republicans being in a panic over it. I got all excited and started doing the math over again based on this new information, and hoping it wasn't one of the swing Republicans that was going to be absent. I even remembered the thread from earlier today about how they need a quorum of 51 Senators present to proceed to vote, and this left them with only 50.

When I got home from the gym, I checked Twitter and found no reports of it anywhere. Then I went to CNN's website, and again, not a single mention of it. Am I losing my mind? Did anyone else see this? And why is it not being reported now? I definitely, without a doubt saw the headline at the bottom of the screen next to the CNN logo, there was a blonde female reporter doing a split-screen interview with a dark-haired man wearing a blue tie (I of course couldn't hear what they were saying because there was no sound, and I was desperately trying to find out who the Republican Senator who was going to miss the vote was). What is going on here?

Daines told CNN on Thursday that GOP leaders may be forced to hold open the confirmation vote for Kavanaugh overnight as the senator returns to Washington from his home state, where his daughter is being married.

GOP MT Sen Daines tells Kavanaugh “he has made arrangements to be there to get him across the finish line as needed.” Daines initially said he may miss the Sat confirmation vote. Daines’s vote is essential to get the math to work. Daines’s daughter is getting married in MT Sat

12. The Senator called Kav to tell him he'd be there if needed

apparently there's some procedural device where they can hold the Senate open after a vote. So I gather the plan is that if the Senator's vote is needed for confirmation, he'd get on a jet after the wedding and show up at the Senate at 5 am or whenever and put him over the top.

Bottom line: this is a non-issue for Kav's confirmation.
