I haven't watched the polls in his state, but this vote coming in close to the election I wonder if there will be a blowback and will it depress the vote?

(17,984 posts)Voting 60% of the time with tRump does not make him a Dem by any stretch. If we cannot rely on him for this, the most important vote of his lifetime, why bother having him?

(401 posts)Politics is a numbers games, we're seeing this in our inability to stop Kavanaugh.
To those who Sen. Manchin to go away - Just exactly who would you replace him with?
If you think that a true liberal can get elected in West Virginia - I'll take some of what you're having!
With Sen. Manchin, and hopefully a few more red state Ds, we control the committees and the agenda. If we lose them on a few votes once in awhile, I think it's a small price to pay to be in the majority.
Remember - his job is to represent the people of WV, who appear to be a pretty conservative group.

(31,261 posts)We need to primary him in 2024, not with a wild eyed liberal, but with a moderate that has his or her foot on the ground.

(14,249 posts)But if they're never with us on important votes, what good are they to us?
We need to fight like hell to get enough Dems for a majority, and then to hell with Manchin. He's worthless. Actually he's even worse than worthless since, if he votes for Kavanaugh, we'll forever have to listen to Trump and his cabal bleat that he was confirmed "by a bipartisan majority."
If he can't be with us when it matters, screw him.

If we controlled the Senate would Kavanaugh be confirmed?
If Manchin votes yes will it make any difference?
I am working my %%% of for Kristen Sinema. The only reason we have a chance is because she votes like Manchin.
On 2 years we could get another Democratic Senator from AZ, but it will another Manchin.
Oh and BTW all of the volunteers are way to the left of Sinema and we all understand why she votes that way.

(108,980 posts)Manchin (or someone like him) and a Trumper.
Trump won more votes in W VA than in any other state : 68.5.
Hillary won 26.4
That's what we're up against in W VA.

(1,652 posts)And hes ahead in Texas. Manchn is way ahead in West Virginia. He can afford to vote no. He is running on healthcare and Kava wants to take healthcare away. All of Kavas decisions will harm West Virginia. The people there do not know any better, most will not holdd it against him, and they need to be protected from the brainwashing messages of Trump.
If Manchin sells them out he should just become a Republican.
