But while that's not quite beside the point, I think the more important point is that these Republican senators even have to think about their decision after the preponderance of evidence suggests that Kavanaugh is a drinker and a sexual predator, and they, along with the rest of the world, watched his outburst last Thursday. Any person with even a shred of morality or integrity would have to vote no. But Republicans have to agonize over it. They have to focus group it and measure it from every angle. What's shocking is that we might ask how they live with themselves, how they can look in the mirror or into the eyes of their spouses, children, and grandchildren, and, yet, they can. They see nothing wrong with voting for a vile human being, with supporting a president* who is a sexual predator, a con man, and a crook. They will go to their graves - sooner rather than later, many hope - believing they were on the right side of history. I hope that they are consigned to the dustbin of history and that not a single word will be written about them once they are out of office or in the ground.
