If Manchin is a yes, should he be thrown out of the party?

Not for freely exercising his right to vote as he wishes, but for voting for a nominee who showed under testimony that he is a partisan POS by attacking the integrity of Democrats.

Even if that's four years away, and that if he votes "yes" as the deciding vote he will not be given any plum committee assignments if Dems take back control of the Senate.

They should encourage him to get a sudden case of the flu and just miss the vote, since an absence is as good as a no vote.

You probably can't stop him from registering as a Dem. But the other Senators can vote to expel him from their caucus and stop recognizing him as a Dem. As far as elections go, the DNC also refuses to recognize him as a Dem and refuses to support him in any way.

If a Democrat ever votes for a Republican majority leader or speaker, then that Sen or Rep needs to be expelled immediately. But otherwise no.

Even if Manchin voted with Republicans 100% of the time, except when voting for majority leader, that's still better than a actual Republican that votes Republican including for leader.

I don't know what should be done. Maintaining numbers helps maintain control of committees.

And that's terribly important as we see today with the Judiciary. How different things would be if we had a Senate majority.

So we live though this horror and then we vote next month.

We need 51 people with "D" next to their names. We need a Democratic Majority Leader, because the Majority Leader controls the calendar.

Kicking a sitting senator out of the party's caucus, regardless how they vote, would be a very dumb move.

However, I hope every woman in his life gives him a long talk about his priorities.
