(10,279 posts)make him the shit-stain on the SC, something that Justice Thomas was until Kav came to the court. Thomas must be delighted to receive this promotion.
Most of the time, except for RW media, Kav's name would appear in articles with an asterisk and a little note, like "disbarred for perjury, 2018". Little school kids will ask him questions about the meaning of "disbarred" and "perjury". Adults will ask Kav to pose with them while drinking a beer.
Trumpy, Mitchy, and Kav ploughed through the Senate and got it done. Maybe ABA will give Kav a tattoo on his forehead that he can wear for the rest of his life. (Game show in 2045: For 1 thousand roubles, what is the name of the only USSC Justice to be disbarred? And, somewhere in America, a little kid will respond, "That is easy -- it's grandpa!"

(14,174 posts)They know they have done their part in transforming their own base, with the help of Russia, into deplorable people. A base that now does not give a shit about charges of sexual abuse, or anything else. As long as the groper in chief wants him, they want him. Any opposition is manufactured. funded by George Soros and the Clinton Foundation. It really is a bonifide cult.

(8,361 posts)more we are able to get votes against Republicans running. We never win all races but we work toward turning the tide in our favor. The House is a two year run, we need all the political ammo we can get. Lots of women who never voted before can be motivated to vote with us.

(10,013 posts)The Republican Party now has a court to support its destruction of personal rights and a court that may accede to a president being above the law. For those who have not read Karl Roves REDMAP, we have moved closer to his stated goal of one-party rule perpetuated by gerrymandering, voting restrictions, and virtually lifetime seats in Congress because Democrats cannot vote for enough people to create a majority. The Electoral College will continue to support election of the popular vote loser, and the power of rural states wil ensure that the minority continues to be the tail that wags the dog in Congress. UNLESS we get out the vote this year and overwhelmingly elect Democrats. We need both the House and Senate. It may be the last chance to preserve the Constitution and government.

(58,785 posts)Now, instead of restoring his original rating because "investigation" revealed "nothing," they reopening their evaluation of him claiming new, material information regarding temperament. Maybe they're just talking about the hearing, but...
It's not nothing until and if it's nothing. We would love his rating downgraded.
The ABA said in the letter to Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and ranking member Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) that new information of a material nature regarding temperament has prompted it to reopen its evaluation.
The association said its Standing Committee does not expect to complete the process and re-vote before the final Senate vote on Kavanaughs nomination, which is slated for Saturday.
The group noted that its "original rating stands."

(26,748 posts)The ABA doesn't actually have an official role to play in nominations. Most presidents have included them as part of the selection process, but that's optional.
So now Manchin or some Republicans would have to decide that this was a big enough deal to change their vote.
