In theory, the cloture vote is to be followed by 30 hours of debate with the possibility that some 'yes' cloture votes could turn into 'no' votes. But that wasn't going to happen in this case. Once Kavanaugh got past cloture, it was over.

Another 30 hours of debate wasn't going to change anything. This has been going on for weeks and minds were made up long ago.
