Susan Collins was a 'right time, right place' candidate.
She was in a three person primary race and so far back she could not even see the other two candidates' tail lights.

The millionaire candidate sponsored an investigation of the evangelist candidate who got run out of a southern state because he was boinking his twelve year old babysitter.

The millionaire denied his involvement but the public turned against both him and the evangelist, leaving Susan Collins as the sole remaining viable candidate.

It was no doubt written written by an attorney and most probable writer..Don McGhan I have no doubt it was him.Collins doesn't have the smarts.

Just wondering who the main Trump lap dogs are..Collins,Flake,Grajam,or Manchin....
After hearing Grahams recent comment in the Senate his position is probably under the oval office desk facing Trump.......

She says having a Court where at last we can have a 5 to 4 split instead of 4 to 4, will "restore the stature of the Court".

with a Democrat and a fairly liberal independent candidate splitting the votes in left and center. Collins is popular because she's gotten the reputation as a moderate, but she's sided with Trump enough times now that if the Democrats are ever going to oust her, 2020 should be the year. Maine has some red areas, but it's a blue state overall.

That is why I said LePage won 30%.

There are several popular Democrats lined up to run against her. They are also taking their money out of WV for Manchin.

When Collins first ran she promised to only serve 2 terms. That time was a decade ago.

Now that the info is out about her lobbyist husband she will retire.

First, she described Kavanaugh as a moderate in her mold that would preserve pre-existing conditions and uphold Roe v Wade. Then she didn't do her due diligence and seek expert testimony on trauma and whether what Dr. Ford said fit the pattern given the trauma. She also disregarded what Dr. Ford said about the laughter of her attackers and her 100% certainty that it was Kavanaugh. It was a total crock, start to finish.I expect this speech will come back to haunt her.

this whole past week has been kabuki theater, start to finish. I tend to cynicism anyway, but only the most naive could have been fooled by this amateur production. Collins is especially heinous. She is the worst, a woman who has no connection to her gender, because she thinks she's as powerful as the male idiots she consorts with in the Senate. Can't wait for karma to visit her.

When she said that Ford was credible and something did happen to her, she basically told Ford that Ford didn't really remember her attacker. And Collins missed the fact that this was about lying, not sex. He lied to the Judiciary Committee. End of story. And that is exactly what most of his school friends said. They liked him but he lied.

Not only that, she basically called it a smear by Democrats which it was not. Any such allegation should and would be brought forward. I wonder if Olympia Snow had been there, Collins might have had more courage.

... I believe I dislike Mrs Collins even more than Mitch McConnell. At least the latter doesn't pretend to be "moderate" with his mouth, while voting to destroy the Republic when the time comes. Her pretense of "deliberation" is disgusting.
