As I watch this all unfold, the one thing that appeared missing were criminal sexual assault charges.

It was apparent that there would not be a legitimate investigation--one accuser needed to file charges.


Without the filing, the seriousness of the complaints seemed tempered, as that final step was not taken.

It would be surprising if the Senate confirms someone with an active criminal complaint pending.

But, that does not seem likely now, since there isn't one filed.
