Credit where credit is due: Murkowski is giving a really fine speech.

She is saying that she believes Kavanaugh wouldn't overturn Roe v. Wade or harm Native Alaskans, but that a judge must at all times avoid impropriety or the appearance of impropriety.

She is now saying that she hopes he will be an impartial umpire but her conscience tells her to vote no.

Also pleading for civil discourse.

Talking about Dr. Ford's patriotism and sense of civic responsibility, coming forward knowing what it would mean for her and her family.

"I believe her. I believe Dr. Ford. I still believe her."

"Even the president said she was credible--until he mocked her, ignited that in the crowd. And this body that I revere, this body that was designed to be the world's most deliberative body...If they did believe her...then this body would have insisted on a full, fair FBI investigation that could have corroborated her testimony..."

Ramirez listed 20 witnesses who could have corroborated her allegatons. "We didn't honor a survivor...we didn't listen to a survivor...we didn't take the time to listen to a woman's claims and take the step to (investigate)... Offensive..."
