Is voting for a Lying Man Who Sexually Assaulted Women in his Past To The Supreme Court (and hereby placing Roe v. Wade in jeopardy) and Epipen's costing Thousands of Dollars ---> until his Daughter was called out on it.
That's Joe Manchin's Legacy. Time to pick up his seat ---> ELSEWHERE.

(945 posts)...if you haven't tried to already, try to think of the political elements involved with JM voting for Kav. He is a DEM in the reddest state (according to Presidential results) in the Union. Galvanizing the opposition in that state would have been a political blunder.
Even before this vote, Manch was on record almost half of the time voting for the President anyway. Honestly and sadly, I think Manch might be the best DEMS can do unless we can field a dynamic candidate. I don't see one in WV.
My vote for the foreseeable future: Blue No Matter Who.

That's the strategy to deal with Manchin's. As for what happens to him....Oh Well.

(70,235 posts)he had the latitude, he just didnt want to use it.

This is politics at its worst.

(7,006 posts)With This Vote, He Will Pull A Lieberman after January 2019. Probably pretty high.

(16,129 posts)and that if Democrats get the Senate, he will flip parties to give it back to the Republicans.

(68,691 posts)He could have done that now and had a pretty good chance at reelection.

(1,278 posts)Assuming that Richard Ojeda gets elected (not automatic) and stays for 3 terms, there could be your answer. Otherwise, Manchin is the best we can get in WV now.

(22,504 posts)So have other people. If Manchin wants to support r's then he should be one.
I don't see any R's voting with the Dems because they are in a blue district.
I bet Beto O'Rourke won't be voting with R's if he wins.
It's a bunch of bullshit. The problems with Kavanaugh are much bigger than just sexual assault. His temperament, lying, partisan politics, conspiracy beliefs, gambling, drinking, ...... We've heard week's worth of bad shit about him. Why should anyone vote for this man?
UncleTomsEvilBrother
(945 posts)...hadn't thought of it like that, especially the point involving Dough Jones.
Good point. Something for me to think about.

(68,691 posts)when it counted. He often votes GOP when they have the votes...it amazes me that people don't get that.

(68,691 posts)in him falling on his sword when the GOP had the votes. We will never get the kind of Democrat you want in West Virginia...and we need warm bodies to take a majority in the Senate without which we are powerless...this sort of thinking is why we are in the minority. You will never have a majority without moderates or conservadems. That is a fact. I want to win and get some of our agenda through...instead of having to play defense.
