I equate Trump's nomination of Kavanaugh to John McCain picking Sarah Palin

Sure McCain received a modest bump in the polls and there is no doubt that it energized the right wing base of the GOP, but it also slapped moderates upside the head and said ... "Are you really willing to risk your future on this?"

If Kavanaugh does not get moderates out to vote against the GOP, I'm not sure what will.

At least Palin never got to within a heatbeat of the presidency. And a lifetime appointment to SCOTUS has potential implications foe decades to come.
