Once 2016 was lost/stolen the court was gone, we knew it was going to be 5-4, granted now a stronger 5-4 with a much younger conservative judge than Kennedy,
Kavanaugh was sailing easily to confirmation until Ford heroically stood in the way, and ended up becoming a symbol for victims of abuse at the hands of drunk teens, men who have for generation in group behavior have dismissed women, "the Sleeping Giant" was already awake but is now roaring.
Enthusiasm is going to be high on both sides but remember there is more of us than there is of them even in their red enclaves there is pockets of blue that are going to come out, and oust a lot of Red incumbents

(13,776 posts)The only way they won was by delivering a giant Fuck You to women (half the voting population) and survivors of sexual assault (which makes them the worst people). It wasnt a cakewalk for them.

(4,103 posts)Having a lowlife, lying, sexual assaulting, politically biased, self entitled, elitist piece of shit on the Supreme Court is what I have a problem with. He is not fit to be sitting on the Supreme Court. trump did this just to troll liberals and piss people off because he's a juvenile douchebag.

(63,923 posts)need to listen to those pricks lies anymore, and how the democrats are to blame. Such assholes starting with Lindsey Graham, and how they didn't have the courage to speak to Dr Ford. And never in my life I heard Kava-not yelling and spewing lies about how it was a left wing conspiracy. Sickening and this man is now sitting on the SC?
This regime is nothing but a bunch of criminals. Everyone should take a knee when they play the anthem.

(119 posts)...is that, until the final vote, there was always a flicker of hope, no matter how tiny, that he would not be confirmed. If it was always a given, then there was no reason for Dr. Ford to upend her life, nor even any reason for debate.
What changed is that that tiny flicker of hope has been doused.

(25,586 posts)there was any chance whatsoever that he wouldnt be confirmed? I never understood that weird kind of senseless, blind, uniformed naivety. The Republicans were never going to fail to confirm Trumps nominee. Politics 101.

(119 posts)Why bother with with an FBI investigation (sham that it was)?
Why bother to protest? Why bother to vote?
Because there is always a chance to prevent the worst.
That's not senseless, blind, uninformed, or naive; to believe everything is predestined and inevitable is.

(34,095 posts)elections have consequences, after all.
And all but completely ignoring credible and corroborated claims of sexual abuse, blatant lies under oath, his complete inability to exercise a suitable judicial and impartial temperament in order to meet some arbitrary confirmation deadline.
One is a normal consquence of the election. The other is destroying the last facade of impartiality on the court or in the process by which nominations are confirmed. And almost intentionally triggering mild to severe PTSD in nearly every woman I know.
