Go to the last 3 minutes of the show if you don't have time to watch it all. Tea Leone sets nationalism on its heels. Beautiful!
In the last 10 min, Hillary, Colin Powell and Madeline Albright have a scene with Tea. Lovely. I'm almost done crying.

(13,776 posts)During the Obama years I didn't need it (still loved it on DVD).
Now, even more than during the Bush years, "patriotism" has been co-opted by yahoos who want to make this country white again.
So I'm pretty cynical about patriotism these days. But that literally gave me chills. It was beautiful.
The thing that's so frustrating is that I hope that's the picture of America that most Americans actually want. And we're being deprived of it. We could be that way. But we aren't, and it's not by our own choice.
I think the people who are truly patriotic are the ones who subscribe to that "E Pluribus Unum" motto, not the ones who actively create hatred and division.
Thanks so much for this link. I haven't been watching Madame Secretary but I'm going to start.

(22,047 posts)Unfortunately, the series is a bit thin and far-fetched. It's attention to detail is considerably lacking when compared to "The West Wing" and it's presentation of the political processes is superficial at best.
Nonetheless, it's a compelling TV show and there have been a number of very good scenes.
