Obama, continues to blame anyone and everyone for the drought but himself, reads a release from Boehners office posted online and distributed to reporters Monday. The quote was attributed to Boehner himself in a Financial Times story. The online post and the press release came from Boehner spokesperson Kevin Smith.

They should blame Al Gore. At least he predicted it, which doesn't make it his fault but at least makes him have a relationship to it.

(115,887 posts)are red states. I'm sure Obama made the drought happen in those states just to punish them. Here in Minnesota, which he won in '08 and is almost certain to win again, we haven't had significant drought conditions except for in an area in the southwestern part of the state. Those counties usually vote GOP. QED, Obama did it. Let that be a lesson to you, red states: Vote Democratic and you'll get rain.
Gotta love godlike power!

* UPDATED @ 4:30 PM ET: Clarifies that the president is blaming others for failing to respond to the drought when he has yet to urge Senate Democrats to adopt a bipartisan drought-relief measure passed by the House.

(8,571 posts)And I would just like to add the reason the Democrats didn't fall for it quite possibly could be due to the fact that it REDUCES SPENDING.

(1,944 posts)Hey, Boehner if this was so important why didn't you release funds before you went on vacay...........
WASHINGTON The U.S. House passed a $383 million disaster-relief bill yesterday that provides political shelter for lawmakers during the worst drought in half a century but might not release the aid for months to come.
Nearly two-thirds of the continental United States, including prime ranch and farm territory, is in the grip of drought, and lawmakers were under pressure to help livestock producers under siege from soaring feed prices.
There was additional evidence of the droughts toll yesterday as the Mississippi River was closed to traffic at two locations after barge tows ran aground near Greenville, Ark., and La Crosse, Wis., because of low water.
Congress has been deadlocked on passing a full farm bill, but the drought portion was seen as a way to get to aid to hard-hit ranchers, although it was unclear whether the Senate will move on the legislation.
The House bill, which allows payments of up to $100,000 per farm, will help cattle and sheep ranchers but not hog and poultry farmers. Row-crop farmers have insurance, but programs for livestock expired in 2011.

(17,505 posts)..... that's not free market!
Why should ranchers get a deal on feed? If they cannot feed their "crop", maybe they should go into another business. It's friggin' SOCIALISM!
