at least, they should not be worn that way. if you need one on your person, keep it in a pocket. the pockets on medical uniforms are big enough for them. that's where they belong.

if it's around your neck, someone can grab the ends and strangle you with your own stethoscope, or at least pull you down to the ground and then do whatever to you.
