by the storms..Do you think they are even interested in Climate Change and its relationships to these hurricanes? I mean they do have to make a decision wether to rebuild or not.. Correct?
I know if owned a house in a vulnerable storm area... I'd be at least curious about climate change
I do think that the Red Tide tragedy in western Florida is beginning to effect the politics of the area.

(4,429 posts)It's a very racially divided area. Very 'southern'
I worked at a prison and they hated (hated) Rick Scott because he wanted to privatize their jobs (and they'd get a big cut in salary).
But, after the immediate scare was over.......they voted for him.

Yea.. You would think that the Prison workers would have learned the lesson that Repub Politicians are not interested in middle class needs.. They simply work for the wealthy!

(25,857 posts)haven't read a book since high school (even assuming they read any then) and don't give a flying fuck about history, climate change, what the DOW might be doing. They're living day to day. Even a lot of people who make enough money to save for the future choose to live day to day, watch Fox News if they watch any news at all, pay close attention to their favorite NFL or college football team, and that's about it. They have zero understanding of science and how it works. If they attend church, and of course a lot of these people do, they believe completely whatever the pastor tells them.
Most of the people who post here are curious about the world and what's going on around them. We want to know what makes things tick. We're interested in uncovering reasons for what happens. Even when we disagree vociferously, and even when I think someone here has posted something truly stupid (which happens more than I wish it would) we collectively remain pretty reasonable.

(13,991 posts)that Trump has plenty of people who ARE educated and yet support him and his ignorant policies. I have several in my own family who have degrees, read books, and are otherwise very intelligent. I dont get it. I think it has to do with Fox News.

(13,991 posts)My educated relatives who support Trump are either Evangelical (my aunts), military (my uncle) or racist (my PhD educated grandfather).
