Kanye West is an entertainer, and while he has a pretty large fan base and some influence, he is ultimately just an entertainer. He is not even the most influential or admired rap artist today. His celebrity at this point is his association with Trump.

Donald Trump is supposed to be the President of the United States. The fact that he invited West and Kid Rock to the White House, as if they are equivalent to say Bruce Springsteen and Barbara Streisand when the Clinton's were in office, or Beyonce and Jay-Z who were guests of the Obama family.

The sad reality is that most celebrities and artists have a more liberal lean because they are often pushing the boundaries and social norms. Artists who are conservatives tend to get stuck in supporting the status quo, and their craft becomes stale. Kanye and Rock are seemingly at the tail ends of their careers and are looking to remain relevant in some way.

Trump is so sad and desperate for approval that he accepts any celebrity endorsement, even if those endorsements come from the "State Fair" circuit level celebrities like Rock. That to me is a much larger embarrassment. Trump's power is multiple levels higher than West's and the fact that Trump is seeking out the approval of West and Rock makes him pathetic.

His mental and personality shortcomings put us all in MUCH MUCH greater danger than anything Kanye West can do.

And the Kayne's own admission that he is looking for a father figure makes perfect sense for someone wanting an Authoritarian government.

was embarrassing on so many levels. Like someone on another forum put it, he "stereotyped the fuck out of" his own community during that long rant.

...but the high level of conversation going on now in the Oval Offices may be above my limit of understanding. Can someone please explain this to me? Am I missing something here? Shame I can't fully appreciate the import of this momentous activity going on in the office of the highest level of State Affairs and diplomacy that I have just watched. Just help me here. Or are we just pretending to function as a serious government anymore?

JFK had discussions with Harry Belafonte and dealings with Marilyn Monroe (which unfortunately were not of the wholesome variety). Belafonte was a civil rights activist as well as an extremely popular musician at the time and Monroe was the sex symbol of the era. The Clinton's were famous fans of Barbara Streisand, and Bruce Springsteen. President Obama and family had Jay-Z and Beyonce.

Often celebrities will push for certain causes.

Trump is just not serious and the people he chooses to bring around him are not serious.
