(146,308 posts)they think there? Is that it? I'm just wondering why you bothered to reply to this thread. Ignoring something is not the same as commenting on that thing, you see. Laughing might be, but I'm not feeling the humor in this, really.
So, I commented on it. It's DU. I post here.

(173 posts)Criticism and public displays of dissatisfaction with Trump (including those by MSM) only play into his games of manipulation. Our voice is best heard at the polls come November.
mokawanis
(4,440 posts)So you think we shouldn't criticize or display dissatisfaction with tRump until election day??? We should remain silent until we vote?
techne7319
(173 posts)We win at the polls by electing representatives that will make the changes necessary to right this ship and save our country. Finding common ground in principle and agendas is necessary. Bashing this guy on a daily basis achieves nothing aside from promoting anger and resentment. Criticism by MSM only fuels his message and empowers his base. Contacting your congresspeople makes a difference. Voting in local and national elections makes a difference. I prefer a focus on the positive and a hopefully better future than a constant rehashing of the negative.
mokawanis
(4,440 posts)you stated that criticism and public displays of dissatisfaction with Trump only plays into his game of manipulation. I'm simply disagreeing with your statement. Discussion, debate, and criticism are a necessary part of democracy. As for the anger and resentment of his base, that fuel is spoon-fed to them by Trump himself on pretty much a daily basis. Our silence would not diminish that one bit.
It sounds like you are arguing that individuals and the media should just shut up or somehow stay positive in the face of Trump's lies, distortions, and lunacy. I couldn't disagree more. I think those things should be called out every time.
techne7319
(173 posts)Reporting whats going on is one thing. Continually complaining about every daily occurrence in the the White House is another. We all know this guys a dirtbag. When the majority of The general discussion thread on DU is people whining and crying about Trump its not helpful. The beginning of this very thread is a post about Kanye saying mf in the Oval Office. Who cares? Its a pointless waste of breath. Its been going on for over a year and public outrage and responses have not changed anything. All this crap he pulls is out of our control. Elections can change that. Wallow in negativity all you want, but its not helpful.
techne7319
(173 posts)Hes the master spinster. He can twist anything said or done against him into a positive. The classsic Im rubber, youre glue game. Somehow, he does it. It must be a machine or something. Hes a celebrity and in that sense any publicity is good publicity. Yes. He wants us to get all worked up over Kanye. Its not really all that important though, but all the new sites are going to blow it up... who cares. It sounds as if youre say that its more important to spend time calling out trump on all his crap and complaing about it on DU, than trying to spread a positive message from your democratic candidates the upcoming election or something that is actually meaningful and helpful.
techne7319
(173 posts)All the calling out trump, all the complaining on DU and in the MSM has not and will continue to fail in having any effect on this administration. He craves the criticism and thrives on it. Critics are used as bait for his base, spoon-fed by Trump as you say.
What can create a change to this administration:
Mueller investigation
State of NY investigation
Midterm elections
So,yes, ignore his crap.
Report the news, but ignore the rest.
Quit whining, no one cares. This country is totally divided and trumpism is the deciding factor. No minds are going to be changed by all this coverage. It just affirms peoples positions. The complaining is pointless. Vote, promote your national, state and local candidates.
Most importantly- VOTE!!! and get all your friends and neighbors to as well
techne7319
(173 posts)Please give me one instance where this administration has had a change of heator given in to social pressure or criticism - MSM or otherwise. He recently turned the #MeToo movement (which has had meaningful implications in our country) into a weapon for his base. Same with the Kavanaugh nomination - even worse.

Mission statement
The mission of The Washington Post is defined in a set of principles written by Eugene Meyer, who bought the newspaper in 1933. Today they are displayed in brass linotype letters in an entrance to the newsroom. (His gender references have been supplanted by our policy of inclusion, but the values remain).
The Seven Principles for the Conduct of a Newspaper
1. The first mission of a newspaper is to tell the truth as nearly as the truth may be ascertained.
2. The newspaper shall tell ALL the truth so far as it can learn it, concerning the important affairs of America and the world.
3. As a disseminator of the news, the paper shall observe the decencies that are obligatory upon a private gentleman.
4.What it prints shall be fit reading for the young as well as for the old.
5. The newspapers duty is to its readers and to the public at large, and not to the private interests of its owners.
6. In the pursuit of truth, the newspaper shall be prepared to make sacrifices of its material fortunes, if such course be necessary for the public good.
7. The newspaper shall not be the ally of any special interest, but shall be fair and free and wholesome in its outlook on public affairs and public men.
Eugene Meyer, March 5, 1935
....
Taste
The Washington Post respects taste and decency, understanding that societys concepts of taste and decency are constantly changing. A word offensive to the last generation can be part of the next generations common vocabulary. But we shall avoid prurience. We shall avoid profanities and obscenities unless their use is so essential to a story of significance that its meaning is lost without them. In no case shall obscenities be used without the approval of the executive or managing editors.

(146,308 posts)I sometimes do, but this thread is not about him. It's about maintaining at least a bit of decorum in the People's House.
Trump is just the current tenant in that house. He has guests, apparently, who don't understand that. But, it's up to individuals to behave appropriately when there.

2- the pussygrabber is truly miserable. When the jackass was talking about the iPlane, or whatever, for almost 2 seconds the pussygrabber seemed to have a sincere smile on his hideous face. I've never seen that before. It's small consolation, but good to realize how miserable he is all of the time.

What?
It's just some bullshit false decorum that in the last 2 years has been completely removed from the office of president.
I've still only heard bits and pieces, but the message should be, "Great fantastic Kanye! Now let's hold Trumps feet to the fire to reduce the industrial prison complex, lets get a federal investigation and look into what can help Chicago, Detroit, & Flint a better place to live. Which has a direct connection to the prison industry. Let's hold Trumps feet to the fire and make his cabinet not look like a sauna scene from Caddy Shack.
This type of reporting only enables him, just like they did during his campaign for president. I'd love to start reporting, I dont have the brain to fingers to paper ability and being %100 disabled sure as shit doesnt helo.
