...because of the backlash Kanye has gotten from this, I am quite content with Trump's words.
Trump's comments were to show faux unity for his white, bigoted base as he is being advised by Stephen Miller and Bannon. Trump does not care about the Black vote.

Though Kanye's music has certainly declined in the most recent projects, his older stuff is wonderful. His relevance to most voting Black people is taken more seriously by non-Black people, though.

In some polls, Trump's approval among Black people is as low as 4%. His remarks about Kanye helping with the Black vote probably hurt Trump more than it helped him.
