A few thoughts re: Elizabeth Warren.

I'm not sure what to make of the timing of her release of the DNA test results, and her almost simultaneous hint that she may have her eye on 2020.

She's a terrific Senator and a fighter, but her ardent Trumpbot opponent has jumped all over this and although I'm certain she will still mop the floor with him, I wonder if waiting until after the midterms to signal a presidential run might have been a bit more sensible.

Thoughts?

The ideological battle between Warren and Clinton would have been great. Both are amazingly well versed across many topics.

the rethug dirty tricks, false framing, libel, etc.

We need Elizabeth Warren to serve -- whether as a senator, or president, or some other office. She just needs to avoid the rethug snakepit that emerges wherever people are trying to do some good.

4. I've yet to see any candidate not commit a mistake or two. The timing is likely one of her big ones

Yet, I don't know what went into the "calculation" in releasing this info now.

I surely think it might have been wise to have had a conversation with Native American leaders (especially the Cherokees) ahead of any announcement to make it clear that her only motivation was to diffuse those who claimed she lied or benefited from the claim and NOT to (in any way) claim to be a member of any tribe, nor to qualify for same.

Elizabeth Warren would have made an outstanding running mate for Clinton (IMO) and I believe that she would make an incredible president, but one of the things I like the most about her is the lack of "polish" and "looking at the optics" of everything. She is not overly cautious, does not appear programmed or robotic and she is genuinely on the side of making people's lives better in any way she can. That ought to be the gold standard for us to apply...not whether or not the timing of something was spot on...

If the last 2 years have taught us nothing, we should at least recognize that America no longer gives a shit about gaffes or protocol errs or sincere apologies for damn near ANYTHING...we look collectively weak when we allow a gas bag like Trump to bellow and scream and prance around the public square and then get our vapors because someone said or did something slightly off-beat or not 100% vetted and polledor even particularly well-thought out.

Warren was NOT attempting to appropriate tribal identification, she was pushing back against the smears of the dickhead in chief and if that requires a certain lack of decorum at times, I calmly invite my fellow Democrats to wake the fuck up and smell the coffee already...this is clearly NOT an existential error or shift in beliefs and priorities that would be disqualifying for a potential 2020 candidate....quite the opposite to my thinking. She is taking the fight to Trump and not sitting back and allowing him to bloviate in peace. You can not hit the ball if you never swing and yes, you WILL sometimes strike out as well to torture a baseball metaphor in honor of the ongoing playoffs...

That willingness to fight ALONE is reason to support her, but I also happen to have a ton of respect for her policy aims and the work she has done in the Senate as well. When we as a party allow ourselves to be distracted by the insignificant issues, we play directly into our enemies' hands (and yes, the GOP is an ENEMY, make no mistake about that) we also make it easier for Republicans to distract the general population with idiocy as well. Was it the best way to handle it? Of course not, but action is better than reaction constantly. Motion creates emotion, and dammit we need to MOVE if we are going to retake the White House and have any chance at all of reversing the currently disastrous course we have been set on.

In the current political reality, the old norms and decorum simply are not going to get the job done. I want to win. I want a candidate I know will fight and won't back down. We should have several of them emerge in the next 90 days and I hope one remains Elizabeth Warren.

so many levels. It exposed Racists and highlighted the struggle of our Native Americans. It was all true.. and why so many are up in arms about the truth is a mystery.

Oh, I know.. "..the timing.." Well, it happened so make the best of it. And, she is a Fighter! She's running for re-election in Mass

And fyi, I don't always agree with Elizabeth Warren.

This is not a change for me whether or not her DNA shows anything pertinent.

Crazy for her, but not for Pres., given that IMO her strengths are better suited elsewhere.
