Army Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Smiley is recovering after suffering at least one gunshot wound inside the Kandahar governors compound, three of the people said. They spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue. U.S. military officials in Afghanistan and at the Pentagon have declined to comment on the attack or identify the wounded, describing them only as an American service member, an American civilian and a contractor who is part of the military coalition."
More at article. Yeah, won the hearts & minds. F/U Dick Cheney, we're in a forever war.

(16,093 posts)It had been reported earlier that General Miller had already left the room, when the attack took place!
https://abcnews.go.com/International/top-officials-kandahar-afghanistan-killed-guards-us-soldiers/story?id=58584921
"Miller was on his way to his helicopter when the attack occurred and was uninjured in the incident."
Now that isn't to say that the general didn't draw his weapon...he probably drew it when he heard the gunfire! But now Trump is going to try and give him a medal and make him into some kind of super hero!!!!
