https://www.gregpalast.com/we-sued-brian-kemp-this-morning/Yesterday, I sued #BrianKemp in a federal court... He cancelled half a million people off the #Georgia voter rolls... I had computer experts, the best people in the nation, who check people's addresses. You know, the guys hunting you down to make your pay your bills or send you catalogs. They went through name by name. Kemp didn't realize I was going to do this... 340,134 Georgians did not move from their registration addresses. They got removed. They've been given no notice... no notice that they've been removed.
Are you a victim of #ThePurge? If you live in #Colorado, #Georgia, #Illinois, #Indiana, #Nevada or #Nebraska, you can find out at: GregPalast.com

(9,999 posts)As long as they continue to get away with it - they ARE above the law. When is this shit going to stop and who the hell is going to stop them? I hope Mr Palast accomplishes something here because no one else is doing a damn thing about this blatant corruption.

(2,275 posts)... and only Rollingstone picked up on it along with a few smaller papers. The media rejected the idea that such a thing could actually be happening. The media is only just now addressing the issue.
A lot of fuss was made about Palast's trademark hat. Jesus.

(32,725 posts)Hate to say it, but this lawsuit won't get people back on voter registration rolls in time for November 6th.
Maybe it will be a good deterrent for whoever tries this shit next time.

(8,923 posts)Go vote provisionally.
Should Palast win his lawsuit, they'd have to count those ballots.

Although I'm actually not sure if Palast is American. He has something figured out, possibly residents of that county or state. He's no dummy.

(22,977 posts)He's been screaming about this subject for almost two decades now.
I'm thinking that Hair Furor's sudden use of the term "angry mob" is a set up for election day. Remember when he teamed up with that weasel Kris Kobach to "uncover massive voter fraud" and found diddly?
The Reptilians are upping the ante this go 'round and pulling this crap right under our noses.

(14,494 posts)perhaps giving better standing for the complaint. However, the complaint is based on the National Voter Registration Act.
Perhaps some of our DU legal brains can expand.......

(14,494 posts)If nothing else I hope it rattles some Republican cages, along with suits the ACLU and other voting rights groups have going.
I'm so grateful for our courts and civil rights groups at this time. They, and our GOTV efforts may very well save us from peril.....

(26,757 posts)The article is written to imply that the lawsuit is about an illegal purge of voters (in which case he wouldnt have standing)... but its really about just the information-sharing requirements of the law.
The fact that he filed it mere days before the election is evidence that its mere grandstanding to get his story noticed and he doesnt expect it to go anywhere... but wont be thrown out before the election (and wont be noticed after).

(1,736 posts)The justice issued involved are heard more widely, anticipating the 2020 election, a model for future action by the Democratic Party is piloted, the opportunity is pursued for an extraordinary result that helps in 2018 - many good potential outcomes are possible now and the in future.

(6,011 posts)I say that any election with a Federal office involved should come under the complete control of Federal election officials, with no interference from any State election officials. Any violations would result in loss of Federal funds to that State, and jail time for any officials involved. Let the State election boards handle the local commissioner races and dog catcher races, etc.

(4,361 posts)Every American citizen should be automatically registered to vote at age 18 by Constitutional Amendment. We need a movement to start the amendment process. Voting should be made as easy as possible for every eligible citizen.
Thank you Mr. Palast. I hope you are able to expedite your lawsuit and win before election day so our country can win on election day. I also hope the Democratic Party will join your suit as an aggrieved party.
