Trump Administration Eyes Defining Transgender Out of Existence

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration is considering narrowly defining gender as a biological, immutable condition determined by genitalia at birth, the most drastic move yet in a governmentwide effort to roll back recognition and protections of transgender people under federal civil rights law.

A series of decisions by the Obama administration loosened the legal concept of sex in federal programs, including in education and health care, recognizing sex largely as an individual’s choice — and prompting fights over bathrooms, dormitories, single-sex programs and other arenas where gender was once seen as a simple concept. Conservatives, especially evangelical Christians, were incensed.

Now the Department of Health and Human Services is spearheading an effort to establish a legal definition of sex under Title IX, the federal civil rights law that bans gender discrimination in education programs that receive government financial assistance, according to a memo obtained by The New York Times.

The department argued in its memo that key government agencies needed to adopt an explicit and uniform definition of gender as determined “on a biological basis that is clear, grounded in science, objective and administrable.” The agency’s proposed definition would define sex as either male or female, unchangeable, and determined by the genitals that a person is born with, according to a draft reviewed by The Times. Any dispute about one’s sex would have to be clarified using genetic testing.

1. No surprise.

The attacks against the LGBT community have largely gone unnoticed. With the appointment of that asshole to the SC, I can foresee a great loss of GLBT rights. My 4th [I[legal anniversary is approaching, and I wonder if it will be my last. People are going on about Roe V. Wade and the fear of its repeal or partial repeal, yet many seem to miss a big point, marriage equality was codified under Obama's administration, though not through anything he directly has a hand in, but with this misadministration, anything associated with Obama is worthy of repeal or destruction. The number of anti-GLBT bills and cases though out the US is disturbing.

7. It took a student and me nearly 6 months to get approval for a GSA at my school

and we couldn't use gay in the name. 40 kids showed up for the first meeting. I know some teachers and many students are wondering why we need this club. Our only transgender student recently decided to be home schooled. On the plus side there is a lesbian teacher at my school so I am less alone in that sense. I knew a Trump Presidency would be bad for us, but I didn't have any idea it would be as bad as it has been. We have a much longer fight ahead than we dreamed of only a few years ago.

As a transgender woman of color the name calling and insults have increased for me personally and as a whole throughout the nation. I have been on hormones for nearly ten years and next year will complete more surgeries and it may well be moot if this administration defines and codified laws leading to more violence against those of us who are transgender.

We have these right wingers they talk about gender being some immutable, unchanging concept and say it's science, but it's not. These same people are going to cover their eyes and ears and plain out refuse to talk about:

Intersex people
The fact that there are animals that do indeed change biological sex over the course of their lives (And humans have just found a way to do it with technology and culture)
What to do when genetics don't match up. Not everyone has just XX/XY chromosomes. What about them? Are they going to become un-people?
The fact that gender as opposed to biological sex is not a biological thing at all, it's a social construct

Once again proving that conservative science is looking for things to confirm your preconceived notions and going "LALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU" to anything else.

1, Undo something the Obama administration did.( I.E. undo what the black guy did.)
2, Donny saying he was going to be a better friend to LGBT community than Hillary.
2, A change even the anti-LGBT idiots didn't know had happen under Obama.

I'm certain most of the anti-LGBT were probably still celebratimg getting an accused attempted rapist on the Supreme Court.
