Trump may close border with Mexico entirely (to all immigrants) before election to 'stoke' GOP base:

"SNIP....

President Donald Trump is considering sealing the southern border with Mexico (to all immigrants), The New York Times reported Thursday evening.

“The effort would be the starkest indication yet of Mr. Trump’s election-season push to play to his anti-immigrant base as his party fights to keep control of Congress,” The Times explained.

Earlier in the day, Trump lashed out at a caravan of asylumn seekers.

“To those in the Caravan, turnaround, we are not letting people into the United States illegally,” Trump tweeted. “Go back to your Country and if you want, apply for citizenship like millions of others are doing!”

Trump is proposing closing the border to all immigrants, not closing it entirely to everybody. It's bad enough that he's wanting to cut off the immigrants, but Raw Story is once again trolling for clicks with an inaccurate headline. Here's what's really happening, from the New York Times, the original source:

WASHINGTON — President Trump is considering taking executive action to bar migrants, including asylum seekers, from entering the country at the southern border, according to people familiar with the plan. The effort would be the starkest indication yet of Mr. Trump’s election-season push to play to his anti-immigrant base as his party fights to keep control of Congress.

The proposal amounts to a sweeping use of presidential power to fortify the border and impose the kind of aggressive immigration restrictions and enforcement measures that Mr. Trump has made his signature pursuit.

It would also be the most drastic in a series of steps that Mr. Trump has taken or threatened to take in recent days — including preparations on Thursday to send as many as 1,000 active-duty Army troops to help secure the southern border — as he works to stoke fears of what he has called an “onslaught” of immigrants only days before the midterm elections.

The president has capitalized this month on a group of thousands of Central American migrants trekking north through Mexico, many of them women and children believed to be seeking refuge from violence and economic hardship, to press his case that the United States is under siege from dangerous foreigners and must take harsh measures to hold them off. He said without evidence this week that criminals and “unknown Middle Easterners” were “mixed in” among the people in the migrant caravan, and has blamed its formation on Democrats, falsely charging that they support allowing immigrants to stream, unchecked, into the country.

Can't understand the reposting their rehashing of stories on DU.

Do they even have reporters?

or

Do they just steal from other reporters who do the work for them???

I had to give my finger prints and photo taken by immigration,
and fill out all sorts of background forms. And I had to be sponsored
by a business/employer.

After a few crime free years, I became eligible to apply for US citizenship.
I had to pass a citizenship test testing knowledge of the US Constitution
and a face interview in English. And require 2 US citizens to vouch in person
for my character.

I wonder what process the migrants will be subjected to by immigration.

The proposal is to close it to all immigration, not all travel across the border.

to close the border to all immigrants. It's an important story; it's just that RS tends to spin things more than they need to be spun.

are to be deployed by Navy Seals (heh). The resulting foam wall will create a beautiful barrier the color of untanned Caucasian skin across the entire southern border.

In an act of pure patriotism, Home Depot is donating the sealant.

For all practical purposes, he closed the border to stop marijuana smuggling.

Didn't work.

Fyi- I'm recalling this from decades old memory, but I remember it was widely ridiculed.
