Attorney Michael Avenatti on Sunday night assailed President Donald Trumps racism and bigotry, painting himself as the working-class fighter who can stand up to the presidents unusual cruelty and make America decent again.
An aggressive trial attorney and 2020 hopeful, Avenatti has sold himself as the Democrat tough enough to take on Trump. Hes best known for representing porn actress Stormy Daniels in her lawsuit against the president over what was characterized as a 2016 hush money payment.

We are the party of Davids, while Trump and Republicans represent Goliath, Avenatti said. Davids are women, Davids are black, Davids speak Spanish, he said, building on his Biblical reference. We cannot afford to show up to the fight without a slingshot.
On Sunday night, Avenatti talked up his Missouri roots working a string of humble jobs, paying his way through college and law school and eventually becoming the first in his family to graduate college.
He also bashed the Trump administrations separation of children and families at the U.S.-Mexico border, highlighting his record of defending immigrants in some of those border separation cases. Avenatti has long-portrayed himself as a defender of women and immigrants.
Donald Trump has fostered an environment of racism and bigotry in this country in an effort to rise to power, Avenatti said. And hes counting on white men to look the other way, he said.

(7,142 posts)once in a primary because of his pro union stance. I think he got 1% of the vote.
I'm looking for new blood, but if Biden gets the nomination, I'm on board.

(13,877 posts)Then there is the age factor and there may a health factor with HRC.
I don't think Avenatti has the party connections needed to make a run for president, although he might stir up some badly needed energy and a younger generation or two. I like Harris and Booker, but I still don't see any of these candidates with the "It" factor Obama had. Hopefully someone else will show up. It's on the campaign trail that winners are made, so time will tell.
Go Dems!!!

(7,142 posts)but the right fears him. He has the ability to change the right wing narratives. If he is our nominee I will totally support him.

(22 posts)Don't think lack of experience will hurt him much. He is smart and will surround himself with good advisers.
I understand what is saying about Dems. After the Mids he should turn it up.

(5,525 posts)He should stick to trolling Trump. The last thing we need is another Machiavellian dirtbag in charge.
