I knew when Obama gave his speech for Kerry that he would be president, although, I thought it would be 2012 not 2008

(5,008 posts)I was worried about the future of our party before Gillum and Beto. Now both of them give me hope for the future. I just wish Beto had a better chance to win in Texas.

(16,448 posts)He will likely have enormous amounts of money left over. And before people reach for the coming off a senate loss is not a good place to start a presidential campaign card remember there were/are folks here who have said Pete Buttigeg and Jason Candor should run. Both good guys and Dems but not as talented as ORourke, and one is a mayor which is one step above city councilman. Not a stretch at all to see ORourke doing well in a Dem presidential primary no matter the results next Tuesday. Of course the desire has to be there. Im not sure it is.

(21,188 posts)But he needs to go to the Senate and pay his dues. Beto 2024.

(14,327 posts)if elected. That means no Senator ORourke for president in 2020.
Dont take this the wrong way, but Beto cant lose: I hope he wins next week, because control of the Senate is within reach, and Beto is key to that. But if we must be stuck with slimy Ted Cruz for another six years, there is a silver lining: we could have the presidential candidate of a generation a few years early right on the heels of our last one.

(11,885 posts)I think he's getting more and more momentum every day , and will defeat cruz by more than anyone could imagine . Cruz is crashing and burning badly now too. That's why they're lying about their poll numbers and trying to corrupt this election for him, but fail. Beto will be a force to be reckoned with in the future no matter what happens now. He's very , very smart too.

(698 posts)Beto has to get elected and there are just way too many brainwashed low IQ republican stamped voters in TX. Add the republican shenanigans in depressing non republican voters and it makes the road Beto has to cross into an uphill climb.
