BY JESSIE HELLMANN - 11/06/18 01:32 PM EST
Former FBI Director James Comey is canvassing Tuesday in Virginia for Jennifer Wexton, a Democrat running in a competitive race against vulnerable Republican Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-Va.)
"Voted. Now going to knock on doors to urge everyone to vote," Comey tweeted.
"Should be fun."
Comey showed up at a canvassing launch spot for Wexton, asked for Wexton stickers and received a script, said Aaron Fritschner, Wexton's communications director.
"He told me it is his first time canvassing," Fritschner said.

Comstock's seat is seen as a must-win for Democrats as they fight to retake the House majority. The Cook Political Report rates the race as "lean Democratic."

(53,840 posts)He was no rookie to Washington politics as he been a player in DC politics for two administrations.
It was obvious he had a grudge against Hillary from his earlier investigation and public chastisement of her in July of 2016. His failure to recommend charges against her riled rogue, Ghouliani-connected agents in the New York FBI office and he lost control of his own agents and in his attempt to get ahead of any move they made, he surmised in October 2016 that that his July humiliation of Clinton hadn't been enough to swing the election to trump so he sent the Oct. 28 letter to Chaffetz, knowing, as a long-time Washington hand, that it would be leaked and would be a fatal , leaving the Clinton campaign too little time to recover from such a devastating blow a classic October surprise.
It worked but it soon became apparent that Putin had also been a player in the campaign so comey had to conduct an investigation, for which he was fired by the unqualified idiot he had helped place in the WH.
He's been seeking redemption ever since for his monumental and historic screw up. He's got to live with what he did.

(53,840 posts)during the run up to the election for Russian collusion?
He chose to disclose the bullshit "new Clinton emails" allegedly found on Weiner's laptop without even reviewing them but didn't utter a peep about the on-going trump investigation.
Talk about selective disclosures. He was no innocent party trying to legitimize her presidency. IMO he was out to destroy her chances and did but let trump slide.

(31,261 posts)What I think he did in 2016 was a misguided effort to legitimize what he saw as a sure Hillary Clinton presidency. I for one believe that he regrets the way it turned out and if he could go back in time, would likely make different choices.

But today, in this regard, in this report, what's there not to love?
No matter how badly he ratfucked Hillary, he's got a long life ahead of him to make amends. I respect the low-key, grass roots canvassing he did for one of ours today.
