Excuse me but I LIVE IN KANSAS.
We just gave Trump the old middle finger.
Kobach is down and out and humiliated by Laura Kelly, humiliated. Any Republican who loses in Kansas is humiliated in Kansas but he was wiped out by a woman to top it all off.
Sharice Davids is going to the House. Another woman Democrat from Kansas.
Paul Davis has not been called but he is ahead and I expect he will gain another Democratic house seat for Kansas. If he doesn't I will apologize for the complete total moron who beats him. How he even got any votes is as surprising as Trump being president.
I hope they both do well in the House and make us proud.
It will be a long haul to recover from 8 years of Brownback and Colyer but Laura can do it. May this be the first harbinger of real change in my state. God knows we have all worked for a long hard time to get here.
UPDATE: Paul Davis may be losing to one of the dumbest people I have ever seen run. How this is happening I have no clue now that Kansas feels all new again but....we will still have the House and all the dems can just tie him to the chair so he does not wander off.

(43,400 posts)Estes wins House District 4
https://www.kwch.com/content/news/Estes-or-Thompson-4th-District-voters-choosing-who-should-represent-them-in-DC-499865011.html
Republican Rep. Ron Estes has won a full term in Congress representing a Wichita-area district he first won in a tight special election last year for the seat formerly held by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
Estes defeated Democrat James Thompson in a heavily Republican district that President Donald Trump won with 60 percent of the vote in 2016. Pompeo won re-election that year by 31 points. Pompeo's resignation to join Trump's administration led to a special election in which Estes defeated Thompson, a civil rights attorney.
Republicans have represented the 17-county south central Kansas district since 1994. Estes was the state's former two-term state treasurer.
The campaign was marked by personal attacks, with Estes pushing stories about Thompson's previous brushes with the law and Thompson slamming Estes for accepting donations from political action committees.

(32,026 posts)Since the 1994 Republican Revolution, the Wichita district has been Republican (Todd Tiahrt and Mike Pompeo served before Estes). Tiahrt's biggest accomplishment in Congress was the Tiahrt Amendment:

(15,383 posts)I have learned so much about him - his helping out with Arizona 1070 SB (the, "Papers please," law), which I have no doubt since he worked with former state senator Russell Pearce who was shown to have ties to white supremacists, that meant Kobach had them too. His scamming small towns to enact unconstitutional laws regarding immigration then having them hire him to defend the laws in court (always to lose but still getting paid big bucks), and his disenfranchisement of legal voters - most often minorities - under the guise of fighting voter fraud.
I can't tell you how much that last part pissed me off. There is nothing more unamerican than taking away someone's legal right to vote, and I never referred to him without putting, "Racist Piece-of-Shit," in front of his name in person or on Facebook.
Schadenfreude isn't a good enough description about how I feel about his loss tonight. Maybe Ubershadenfreude.

After all the faith I had in my home state of Kansas, they let us God fearing Christians down by electing Godless liberal extremists to power.

(32,026 posts)Kansas chose to re-elect FDR rather than promote its Republican governor Alf Landon to the White House in 1936. (60 years later, Kansas chose its senator Bob Dole for president.)

(34,111 posts)and for this I am terribly ashamed.
I guess it is a wash since it was to replace Lynn Jenkins who I don't think said 3 words other than, "I'll do what you tell me Mr. Boehner." I guess we are probably sending comic relief, it is a seat paid for by Daddy because Daddy could not stand to see this seat go to a Democrat.
There is video of this guy making odd faces, looking around, making sounds and waiting close to or more than a minute before he could answer a question about why he is who he is.
The women need to watch this guy. His friends and people who know him say he is a cheater, sadly that was all over the news and apparently there are enough people that did not care, then again, he was running against Paul Davis . Watkins says he has an open marriage and his wife replies, "What???". Watch him ladies, he thinks he is a stud.
I love the comment above that he can be tied to a chair next to Gohmert and they can entertain each other. It is quite possible that we will either never hear a word from this guy much like Jenkins, or he will be blabbering his unique brand of flappy lipped mumbling salad of nonsense.
Whatever sadness I have about sending this guy to our House is topped by the fact that once and for all Kobach was finally slammed to the ground face first and the heel marks on his backside are from my friend and my governor Laura Kelly. I cannot imagine or even consider that she will fail. All the years she has been in office she has shown a remarkable way of working with everyone and getting all the good things done.
I am proud that my state has gotten rid of some of the rubbish that has made our lives less livable, less fair and less respected. The work put into this by the Democrats in my state has paid off and to all of you who have whapped us over and over again, I told you we could do this but we were on our own out here without the support that many of your states get so it would take a while. We are not done yet, not by a long shot.
So far the funniest thing about this was the Twitter and response to Ann Coulter. I have never minded the WOO references, in fact I love them and this one was priceless. (up thread)
I am sorry I was not even able to read most of the replies until this morning (hope we can fix the rural access to good Internet speeds) and am unable to answer each of you since work calls. Still I did want to thank you all who posted. For me this was a good night, it could have been better but my state can come out of the burned out shack it has become , like the Wumps in Wump World, and learn to live again. It may take a while but my hopes are that once people see how someone like Laura can heal things, how she can lead us back out of our mess we will never again be so gridlocked by the Kochs. They got the royal kick in the teeth along with Two Scoops last night from my state. Who would have ever expected this? We did. We knew with all the hard work people were doing we would get there. More to go but for now I am thrilled with my state results.
Tom Rinaldo
(22,913 posts)including the many Republicans who helped make this possible, but mostly a big thank you to all the hard work done by the Democrats in your state to turn it around and send Kobach to the dust heap. This is some of the best news from the midterm
