They're not losers in the sense that orange dumbass is a loser, or that his Nazi followers are losers, but they lost an election.

That by itself is no shame. People have come back from electoral loss (e.g. Obama), but it is hard for them being in red states.

How many elections did he lose before he got elected? He ran for governor and lost AFTER losing in 1960. We have an orange game show host in the white house. the old paradigms have been shattered forever. O'Rourke may very well run for president in 2020, and if he does he will be a formidable candidate.

They seem like excellent people and excellent candidates, but being a "loser" it is hard to make a case for further political progress.

I wish them luck whatever they do.

This is 2018. We have a game show host as president. The old norms are gone for better of for worse. If you don't think O'Rourke would be formidable running for the Dem nomination in 2020 you haven't been paying attention.

When she first announced announced that she was running, there were screenshots of her praising the Gadsen flag, bashing Obama etc. This was 18 months ago. People who knew her in real life were warning about her. Also the local Democratic Party knew about her.

I have no way a linking FB comments from 1.5 years ago. But I read them and saw them. People were praising this woman, but her real life friends knew otherwise. She got picked up by the national media as the newest "star" and it spiraled from there.

Once someone gets national attention, they are pretty much guaranteed to win their primary.

So, I don't take this as a big loss.

I think Gillum, Beto, and McGrath would probably fill out a Dem cabinet, in lieu of Senators/House members, but I don't see them as being the 2020 Frontrunners. Beto made Tx close so that buys his ticket. Gillum lost Florida and has a "Hillary" problem aka a Republican lie that sticks and the media repeats carelessly that I see keeping him from being a front runner. That being said, I got shades of Obama from his concession speech so I'm probably being a bit overly cautious counting him out. I'd love to see Beto and Gillum run for president tbh though.

Obama lost his first election. Stupid Romney is back. They were all close, let's see if the cities and suburbs get bigger.
