Much lower than the 40 projected. We obviously lost seats.

More likely to investigate with those numbers.

(10,053 posts)What really thrilled me were the unexpected red seats we took away from them that they never saw coming: OK 5, NY 11, SC 1
I am so glad we took the House, because here in Florida we are sickened that we lost the chance to have a really amazing governor!

(46,715 posts)Do you know how hard it is to network with other progressives in this state? Conservatives do not have the same problem. They have very established subcultures to vet people and find their own tribes. What do we have? Nothing. There are three Liberal leaders in Central Florida, that called themselves Liberal. Two are attorneys, and if either of them tried to bring us together I wouldn't be a part of it because I don't trust either of them. And the third was a crooked person who knew how to use the backwater networks through the business organizations.
Gillum was a light in the darkness. I hope he tries to bring minorities in this state together to help us organize for 2020.

(129,035 posts)When the congressional districts were redrawn here, the seat that Conor Lamb ran for and won (the old PA-18) was redrawn so he ran for the new PA-17 instead (which included some of what was the old PA-12). The old PA-14 was Allegheny County (including Pittsburgh).
So the new PA-14 is actually in the area of the old PA-18, which had been in GOP territory -
OLD MAP (old PA-14 is now the new PA-18) -
NEW MAP (old PA-18 is now new PA-14) -
So it is disingenuous for this to be considered a "flip" (which the NYT is doing) when the overall "flip" happened in the March special election and the (D) pickup at that time carried over into the general election (albeit under a newly re-numbered district).
