(3,411 posts)Both branches are at least co-equal. I would have to pull out the Constitution and re-read it but I believe the House is the first branch mentioned and I think that indicates the priority the Founders meant for it to have.

(10,021 posts)Information on Trump and his administration's corruption can, and will be, investigated in the House. Democrats will now be able to choose who to call to testify. I hope they choose wisely.

(62,270 posts)The house writes the legislation and gets actions moving. The Senate signs off on those actions and signs off on appointments.
The House can be used to gain more political leverage. There's also the matter of the upcoming census which is what the Republicans have used to gerrymander the hell out of the country.

(11,631 posts)I am so relieved that we won the House and finally have a check on Trump's authoritarianism and corruption, but the Senate controls judicial appointments which is likely to have the much longer term effect and we have likely lost it until 2022.

(11,631 posts)Collins and Gardner are potential pickups in blue states... after that you've got Tillis and Ernst in R+5 states... maybe an unpopular Trump helps sweep them out... but if we lose Nelson and Tester it makes it look more and more impossible.

God, I went to bed just sick. I couldn't look at the returns and my husband told me Beto lost (not unexpected but still painful) and then I woke up to such great news! I am relieved.
